Senior Legal and Compliance Officer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal and Compliance Officer to ensure our company adheres to legal standards and in-house policies. You will be responsible for enforcing regulations across all aspects and levels of business, while providing guidance on compliance matters and supporting the integrity and efficiency of our organization's operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or address violations of legal guidelines and internal policies
• Evaluate the efficiency of existing controls and implement continuous improvements
• Revise procedures and reports periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues
• Draft, modify, and implement company policies and procedures
• Collaborate with corporate counsels and HR departments to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations
• Assess business ventures to identify potential compliance risks
• Review colleague work when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training
• Monitor regulatory developments both within and outside the company, staying informed of evolving best practices in compliance control
• Prepare reports for senior leadership on compliance matters and initiatives
• Support the development, implementation, enhancement, and revision of the Corporate Compliance Program within the company's risk management framework

Compliance Focus Areas

• Ethiopian Federal and Local laws, regulations, and directives
• Relevant international laws, including export and supply chain regulations

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience in legal compliance and corporate governance
• Strong knowledge of legal guidelines and corporate governance best practices
• High ethical standards and professional integrity
• Result-oriented mindset with ability to make difficult decisions when necessary
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
