Senior Attorney and Corporate Counsel

Role Summary

The Senior Attorney and Corporate Counsel represents Habesha Breweries SC. before courts of law and judicial organs. This role involves preparing pleadings based on the Civil Procedure Code of Ethiopia and other relevant legislation, managing legal proceedings, and providing comprehensive legal guidance to company departments. The successful candidate will also assist in reviewing legal documents and administering shareholder affairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Initiate and pursue legal proceedings as required by the Company, including preparing statements of claims, defenses, submissions, and other pleadings
• Prepare pleadings based on the legal requirements stipulated in the Civil Procedure Code of Ethiopia and other relevant laws
• Prepare, file, and plead cases in court in pursuit of amounts owed to the Company
• Represent the Company before courts of law and any judicial organ in litigation matters
• Draft and review legal replies, notices, and monitor legal rights and obligations
• Draft and/or review legal letters, contracts, and agreements, and monitor legal obligations under agreements to ensure compliance
• Assist the manager in reviewing legal documents and preparing procedures, manuals, and codes of conduct
• Research and prepare legal opinions on various matters
• Develop legal guidelines and advise on statutory compliance
• Guide managers and ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations
• Provide training on various legal issues to company staff
