About Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS)

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia. ERCS provides services to communities affected by natural and man-made disasters through emergency responses, ambulance and first aid services, family reunification, essential drugs distribution, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services.

The organization runs disaster risk reduction programs relating to food security, climate change adaptation, livelihood diversification, and institutional capacity building interventions, with the aim of creating resilient households and communities. ERCS currently operates with a structure consisting of 14 regional branches, 40 zonal branches, 180 woreda branches, and 5,871 Kebele Red Cross Committees.

ERCS works in partnership with the Ethiopian Government, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), partnering National Societies, members, volunteers, and the communities served.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Pharmaceutical Operations Manager, the Procurement & Transit Officer facilitates the procurement process for foreign and local purchase activities within the Pharmaceuticals Services. The officer prepares tender documents and conducts offer analysis for both open and restricted tender purchases, and compiles complete and accurate data on medicines, related supplies, and other items to be procured.
