Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is seeking a Macroeconomic Advisor for the SRVC II project based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Project Overview
The SRVC II project is a comprehensive agricultural value chain development (VCD) initiative working across selected agricultural value chains in the horticulture and oilseeds sub-sectors. The project aims to strengthen private sector development, supply chain management, and post-harvest management through collaboration with various public and private partners, including agricultural input and service providers, producers, processors, and business associations.
The project supports public-private dialogue (PPD) and federal partners with agricultural policy development and inter-sectoral coordination to help Ethiopia's agricultural sector fulfill its potential in providing food security, employment, and high-quality food to local and international markets.
Project Components
The project is structured into three integrated components:
- Oilseeds value chain development
- Horticulture value chain development — supported by additional funding from the Gates Foundation, focusing on the Arba Minch-Addis Ababa corridor, Kenya, and Uganda, implemented in collaboration with the Ethiopian Horticulture Association (EHPEA) and through contract farming promotion
- Coffee value chain development — financed by the European Union, implemented jointly with Spain and Italy under a Multi-Partner Contribution Agreement (MPCA), focusing on coffee VCD and EUDR compliance to enable Ethiopian coffee producers and exporters to access EU markets
Role Responsibilities
The Macroeconomic Advisor will inform project activities and provide evidence for partner support through:
- Comprehensive analysis of macroeconomic dynamics and developments
- Assessment of global developments in supply chains and market access
- Analysis of local and regional economic developments
