1. Background Lawyers for Human Rights (LHR) is an Ethiopian civil society organization that re-registered on September 19, 2019, before the FDRE Civil Societies Organizations Agency in accordance with Proclamation No. 1113/2019. LHR aims to promote and advocate for human rights by strengthening lawyers’ participation through training and capacity-building; facilitating the exchange of ideas and experience among lawyers nationwide; litigating to uphold rights recognized under the FDRE Constitution and other laws; raising awareness among justice sector actors on international human rights instruments ratified by Ethiopia; providing free legal services to victims of human rights violations, particularly marginalized communities; advocating for legal reforms; and promoting the role of human rights defenders among lawyers.LHR is committed to strengthening survivor-centered transitional justice, as well as advocacy and accountability efforts, using human rights violation documentation in the context of transitional justice processes for advocacy, accountability, and justice. Victim support groups and civil society actors play a critical role in amplifying survivors’ voices, promoting accountability, and influencing policy and justice processes.To address these needs, LHR seeks to engage a qualified consultant to deliver training “How to Use Documentation Reports of Human Rights Violation in the Context of Transitional Justice Processes for Advocacy, Accountability, and Justice.”, in Afar Region, tailored specifically for victim support groups and survivor-focused civil society actors. To strengthen the capacity of civil society and victim support groups in Afar, LHR is searching for a qualified consultant to adapt the training manual on the topic prepared by LHR and deliver tailored training in the region. 2. Objective of the Consultancy The consultancy aims to enhance the capacity of victim support groups and civil society actors in Afar to use documentation of human rights violations safely and effectively for advocacy, accountability, and justice, ensuring survivor protection, representation, and wellbeing. 3. Scope of Work The consultant will: Conduct a brief needs assessment and desk review of regional documentation and transitional justice context in Afar.Customize the standardized training manual developed to fit Afar’s context.Develop PowerPoint presentations, case studies, practical exercises, and participant handouts.Deliver two days, one round of in-person training in Afar for 30 targeted participants.Facilitate interactive sessions, including group discussions and practical exercises.Design and administer pre- and post-training assessments to measure learning outcomes.Prepare and submit a training report, including participant feedback, key outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations. 4.
