About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to join Tamrin International Trading PLC in Addis-Abeba, Ethiopia. Under the guidance and supervision of the Corporate Finance Department Manager, the Head of General Accounts Division is responsible for the planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and controlling the overall accounting and financial management activities of the company.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain proper books of accounting and records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, IFRS and other internal and external regulatory requirements
- Analyze financial transactions and prepare documents while maintaining proper financial records
- Collect, compile and post accounting data to ensure accuracy and timely preparation of financial reports
- Plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control overall accounting and financial management activities
- Develop, review and revise the company's financial and accounting management chart of accounts, policies, procedures and working systems for management approval and implementation
- Allocate tasks among accountants based on their level and job descriptions
- Assign account codes and manage financial records
- Inspect and test books of accounts for accuracy and perform advanced general accounting tasks
- Review all entries to asset, liability, capital, revenue and expense accounts for accuracy and completeness, recommending correcting entries as needed
- Guide the compilation of confirmed balances from general ledger accounts to produce interim or regular financial reports and account schedules upon management request
- Monitor the consolidation of account balances to produce interim and end-of-period financial reports for internal and external use
- Ensure that cash is utilized properly and in accordance with company policies
Key Requirements
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and IFRS
- Experience in financial management and accounting operations
- Proficiency in managing general ledger accounts and financial reporting
- Ability to supervise and allocate tasks to accounting staff
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial records
