Action for Social Development and Environmental Protection Organization (ASDEPO) is an Ethiopian indigenous Civil Society Organization established in 2014. ASDEPO operates across all regional states and implements programs in multiple thematic areas including: Humanitarian Response, Education, Health/HIV and AIDS/Reproductive Health, Women and Youth Economic Empowerment, Gender Based Violence and Child Protection, Migration/Human Trafficking, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), NTDs, Climate Change, Agriculture, and Environmental Protection. ASDEPO works in Gambella, Oromiya, Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar, SNNPR, and Somali Region.

Position Overview

Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and technical guidance of the Head Office Protection Thematic Lead, the Legal Officer will implement protection and legal activities within ASDEPO's UNHCR project framework. The Legal Officer will monitor the provision of legal aid services delivered by government counterpart partner agencies, including legal information dissemination, counseling, legal assistance, and facilitation of legal representation for the target population. The Legal Officer will also undertake additional protection-related tasks as assigned by the Project Coordinator, Thematic Lead, and/or Refugee Response Manager to ensure project objectives are achieved.
