Heifer Ethiopia's contribution to this global target is to help 1,000,000 of Heifer Africa's 6.745 million households achieve sustainable living income by 2030. The organization's maiden Signature Program focuses on dairy, poultry, small ruminants, and horticulture.
Position Overview
The Capacity Building and Workforce Development Specialist reports to the Project Team Leader and leads, coordinates, and oversees all capacity building, skills development, and workforce strengthening interventions under the Transforming Horticulture through Responsive and Inclusive Technical and Vocational Education in Ethiopia (THRIVE-HORT Ethiopia) Project.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure youth, smallholder farmers, commercial enterprises, and service providers engaged in horticulture value chains are equipped with relevant technical, business, and employability skills aligned with market demand
- Design and implement demand-driven capacity building strategies
- Conduct training needs assessments and skills gap analyses
- Perform institutional capacity assessments
- Design and implement market-based skills development programs in the horticulture sector
- Ensure capacity development interventions are effectively monitored and evaluated
