About the Role

IDH Cameroon is seeking a proactive, results-oriented Program Manager to join our team based in Yaoundé. You will lead the technical design, pilot rollout, monitoring, and expansion of the Payments for Environmental Services (PES) program across Cameroon.

Program Overview

This position supports the CAFI-funded initiative, which accelerates and reduces risks for private investment in agricultural value chains. The goal is to develop deforestation-free, low-carbon, climate-resilient chains that boost farmer incomes and livelihoods in Cameroon.

Through targeted technical support, startup funding, and performance-linked PES incentives, IDH helps local businesses and farmers adopt sustainable methods, verify environmental results, and create reliable financial and impact records. This attracts commercial funding and sustained private demand for environmental services, aligning with policy goals and national climate pledges.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the IDH Project Team and partners to craft detailed technical and operational PES methodologies, including performance metrics, verification methods, and payment structures
• Partner with cocoa and agriculture companies to co-create PES field projects on farmland, savannahs, and forests in Cameroon, matching company objectives and CAFI standards
• Promote inclusivity by evaluating project design and execution against Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) and safeguarding principles
• Manage technical rollout of PES pilots in Cameroon with efficient processes, strong monitoring, and clear environmental service payments
• Synchronize private-sector PES payments with other funding sources

Collaboration

You will work with diverse stakeholders, including cocoa and agriculture companies, government bodies, farmer groups, civil society organizations, and technical partners.
