Project Information
Project: KOICA Phase 2 - Enhancing children's education access through reinforced education, WASH, and child protection services in Cameroon's East Region
Duty Station: Batouri, East Region, Cameroon
Coverage Area: Batouri and Ngoura Subdivisions (Kadey Division)
Supervision: Assistant Program Manager
Contract Type: Fixed-term (CDD), 1 year renewable based on performance and funding
Project Context
Funded by KOICA and executed with UNICEF and stakeholders, KOICA Phase II strengthens local systems and governance for improved essential service access among vulnerable populations. The project targets education, child protection, WASH, and social services in the East Region's Lom & Djerem and Kadey Divisions.
Role Purpose
The WASH Officer spearheads field-level WASH implementation, ensuring sustainable safe water, dignified sanitation, and vital hygiene for children and families. Working to translate UNICEF proposals into climate-resilient, gender-sensitive results, the officer aligns with UNICEF standards and Good Neighbors' community-led methodology.
Main Responsibilities
- Drive project delivery for quality water, healthy environments, and sustainable sanitation in underserved areas
- Oversee borehole and pump rehabilitation under Water & Energy Delegation supervision
- Support municipalities in strengthening water service management
- Form and train community groups on WASH practices and sustainability
