Information Assistant Position

Position Overview

The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking qualified applicants for one (1) Information Assistant position in the Public Diplomacy Section (PD).

Basic Function

The Information Assistant advises and assists the Information Specialist in planning, developing, scheduling, and administering a country-wide media program that promotes U.S. policy and engages the public. This position has particular responsibility for monitoring digital media trends and developing the Mission's digital presence. The incumbent also supports public diplomacy activities and initiatives of other PD units and Mission sections, and serves as backup to the Information Specialist.

Employment Details

• Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Position Grade: FSN-07
• Salary (Ordinarily Resident): CFA 9,123,040 per annum (starting salary)
• Location: Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

Required Qualifications

Education

• Completion of secondary education
• Equivalent of one year post-secondary training in communications or university-level social sciences

Experience

• One to two years of progressive work experience

Language Requirements

• Level III English speaking and writing ability (to be verified through technical test)
• Level IV French speaking and writing ability (to be verified through technical test)

Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency with personal computers and mobile technology
• Advanced software skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to exercise initiative and work independently
• Demonstrated resourcefulness and sound judgment
• Ability to draft concise reports in English
• Familiarity with digital media platforms
