Position Overview
The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Carpentry Maintenance Worker in the Facility Maintenance Section.
Employment Details
- Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)
- Salary: CFA 7,271,427 per annum (Starting Salary) — Position Grade: FSN-05
- Open to: All interested candidates
- Location: Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
Note: All Ordinarily Resident (OR) applicants must have the required work and/or residency permits to be eligible for consideration.
Basic Function of Position
Working in the Facility Management section of the Embassy, the Carpentry Maintenance Worker carries out scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance and repair work on finish and interior assemblies, furnishings, and fixtures in all mission buildings and facilities, including residential owned and leased properties.
Job responsibilities include:
- Repair, adjust, and install doors, windows, and hardware
- Install and maintain wall, ceiling, and floor coverings
- Install and service sunshades and blinds
- Install and maintain fixed furnishings
- Paint various surfaces
- Replace specified glazing products with required installation materials
Required Qualifications
Education
- Completion of primary school
Experience
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of building assemblies, furnishings, and fixture operations
Language Skills
- English: Limited knowledge required (Reading, Writing, Speaking)
- French: Good working knowledge required (Reading, Writing, Speaking) — This may be tested
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to identify problems or dangers, report issues, and provide solutions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to address queries from end-users
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight schedules
- Flexible approach to work shifts
