Maintenance Manager

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to lead the maintenance team and ensure maximum uptime of heavy and light engineering machinery. This role requires a strong focus on preventative maintenance, team leadership, and OHS Act compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance strategies for plant machinery and infrastructure
• Actively manage the quick resolution of equipment breakdowns to minimize unplanned downtime
• Lead, mentor, and upskill the maintenance team, including artisans, fitters, and electricians, ensuring daily tasks are completed efficiently
• Ensure the facility complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including conducting regular inspections and enforcing safe working practices
• Control costs and manage critical spare parts inventory
• Oversee the installation, modernization, and removal of sheet metal processing machinery
• Liaise with external contractors, suppliers, and maintenance service providers

Equipment Experience

Experience with the following machinery is essential:

• Roll formers
• Eccentric presses
• Shearing machines
• Press brake machines
• Welding machines

Requirements

Education

• A recognized Trade Test (Fitter/Turner)
• Solid management experience

Experience

• 5+ years in maintenance management
• At least 3 years in a managerial role
• Preferably within heavy and light engineering, steel fabrication, or sheet metal fabrication environments
• Electrical knowledge is an advantage
