Senior Water Officer (International And Transboundary Water Affairs)

Position Overview

The Public Service Commission invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior Water Officer (International and Transboundary Water Affairs) based in Kampala, Uganda. This is a full-time position reporting to the Principal Water Officer – International and Transboundary Water Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the development and review of national policies on transboundary water management to maximize Uganda's benefits from transboundary water resources
• Review and update national strategic plans for development, conservation, and management of transboundary waters in alignment with national transboundary water policy
• Maintain custody and safeguard transboundary water protocols and agreements to which Uganda is a party
• Support the implementation of transboundary policies and agreements in Uganda, and coordinate harmonization between transboundary and national water policies and plans
• Coordinate Uganda's participation in sourcing funds and implementing cooperative development of transboundary water projects
• Oversee implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of transboundary water resources projects
• Coordinate Uganda's participation in conflict resolution and negotiations over the sharing of benefits and use of transboundary water resources
• Direct the development, operation, and maintenance of decision support tools and information databases on transboundary water systems
• Facilitate the acquisition and exchange of water resources data and information with other riparian countries
• Coordinate national assessments on the potential impacts of proposed developments on transboundary waters and riparian countries
