About the Role

Spectrum Utility Management (SUM) is seeking suitably qualified electricians for the inspection and removal of illegal and unsafe electrical connections across the East, North, and South distribution areas of Cape Town. We are building our field teams and invite qualified electricians and contractors to join us.

Contract Details

• Contract period: 12 months, renewable on an annual basis for up to 3 years

Remuneration

• Monthly standby pay: R8,000 for being on standby and available for call-out
• Deployment pay: Fixed hourly rate when called out and working on site (to be negotiated individually based on qualifications and experience)
• No other benefits provided—candidates are responsible for their own medical coverage (private or state) and provident or other funds

Essential Requirements

Own Vehicle and Tools (Mandatory)

Every electrician must have a reliable personal vehicle and a full set of own tools and test equipment. This is a firm requirement, and applicants without their own vehicle and tools cannot be considered.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify, applicants must hold and be able to provide proof of the following:

• Valid Electrical Trade Test certificate
• Minimum of 4 years' experience in construction and maintenance of low-voltage (LV) distribution networks (or similar scope)
• Responsible Person status in terms of NRS 040
• LV Live Work certificate
• First Aid Level 2
• Basic Fire Fighting certification
• Working at Heights certificate
• Aerial Platform Operator certificate
• Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness
• Valid driver's licence
• Up-to-date CV
