About the Organization

The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) is seeking dynamic and dedicated individuals to join its Consumer Consultative Council.

Background

The TCRA Consumer Consultative Council (TCRA CCC) was established under Section 40(1) of the TCRA Act, CAP 172 R.E 2023. The Minister of Communication and Information Technology invites nominations from Mainland and Island for appointment to the TCRA Consumer Consultative Council.

Functions of the Council

Members of the Council will fulfill the following functions as conferred under Section 41(1)(a)-(d):

• Represent the interests of consumers by making submissions to, providing views and information to, and consulting with the Authority, Minister, and sector Ministers
• Receive and disseminate information and views on matters of interest to consumers of regulated goods and services
• Establish local, regional, and sector consumer committees and consult with them
• Consult with industry, Government, and other consumer groups on matters of interest to consumers of regulated goods and services

Qualifications Required

As per Section 40(2) of the TCRA Act, candidates nominated should be representatives of consumers, including the business community, or representatives of organizations legally recognized as being representative of private sector interests.

Section 40(5) of the TCRA Act, CAP 172, stipulates that nominations for council membership shall consider the desirability that the Council as a group possess knowledge, experience, and understanding of the interests of consumers and the regulated sector.
