The AGA Africa Business Unit is seeking experienced and self-motivated persons to join our team. The Opportunity As the Manager of Process Plant Maintenance at Geita Gold Mining Limited, you will hold a critical leadership position tasked with ensuring the highest levels of operational integrity and statutory compliance within the processing plant. This role is central to driving maintenance excellence, infrastructure enhancements, and reliability programs designed to sustain safe, efficient, and cost-effective processing operations throughout the asset lifecycle. You will lead a multidisciplinary team with a strong focus on collaboration, technical innovation, and continuous improvement to deliver superior plant availability and performance. Key Responsibilities Safety, Risk, and Compliance:
Champion a proactive safety culture by demonstrating Visible Felt Leadership and engaging all team members in safety initiatives, including rigorous verification of critical controls to manage fatal risks effectively. Act as a key advocate for process safety and material risk management, working closely with site leadership to maintain audit readiness for insurance and assure adherence to local and international statutory requirements. Ensure strict enforcement of health and safety policies, statutory obligations, and governance frameworks, fostering an environment free from injuries and occupational health hazards through risk-based leadership and behavior-driven safety programs. Lead compliance reporting activities, support thorough incident investigations, and develop team competency in ethics, compliance, and governance to uphold the organization’s corporate standards.
Technical and Operational Excellence:
Oversee and enhance maintenance planning, engineering services, operational technologies, and reliability initiatives to support consistent, safe, and optimal plant performance. Provide authoritative guidance on engineering standards, ensuring equipment and process alignment with operational goals and best practices. Direct systematic root cause analyses and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive actions aimed at improving system reliability and minimizing downtime. Develop and maintain robust quality assurance frameworks to facilitate efficient project execution from initial planning through to operational handover, ensuring conformity to international quality standards.
Cost and Asset Management:
Manage Life of Mine (LOM) maintenance budgets with rigorous forecasting and financial oversight to balance cost control with operational effectiveness. Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities through process improvements, material usage efficiencies, and design refinements while continuously enhancing asset management policies and compliance.
Projects and Change Management:
Collaborate closely with capital project teams to ensure seamless project integration into operational workflows, maximizing transition efficiency and minimizing operational disruption during upgrades or maintenance activities. Strengthen and enforce Management of Change (MOC) protocols to ensure that all operational changes meet stringent safety and compliance criteria. Conduct detailed engineering audits to evaluate and improve governance, process adherence, and adoption of industry-leading practices.
Leadership and People Management:
Lead the performance management process, including coaching, development, succession planning, and talent management, for diverse teams in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and planning disciplines. Promote workforce initiatives that encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion while emphasizing wellness, fatigue management, and mentorship opportunities to enhance employee engagement and retention. Provide clear and inspiring leadership to foster accountability, alignment with strategic objectives, and high performance across all team members.
Continuous Improvement and Strategic Planning:
Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability across maintenance and engineering functions. Develop and align maintenance and engineering strategies with the company’s long-term operational goals and asset management plans to ensure the ongoing reliability and competitiveness of plant operations.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution.
Experience & Skills:
Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in process plant maintenance, engineering, or reliability within mining, heavy industry, or large-scale processing environments. Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and planning specialists. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comprehensive experience in conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions. Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across diverse organizational levels and functions.
