Organization and Position Overview

This position is located in the Administration Division, Registry, of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), in Arusha, Tanzania. The incumbent will work under the supervision and direction of the IRMCT Medical Officer.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and assist the Medical Officer in providing adequate patient care; ensure effective liaison between patients, private doctors, paramedics, family members, and colleagues as appropriate; document case findings
• Perform clinical assessments of clients visiting the walk-in clinic; provide care and advice or facilitate referral to the UN Medical Officer or outside physician as indicated
• Ensure staff preparedness for missions and reassignments, including administration of appropriate vaccines, malaria prophylaxis instructions, travel medical clearances, and guidance on travel-related health matters; provide instruction on travel kit contents and uses
• Manage day-to-day operations of the Medical Unit, including administrative functions
• Assist in providing health education and health promotion programs; participate in work environment assessments such as office ergonomics and address occupational health issues
• Manage all procurement activities of the Medical Unit as the focal person
• Maintain all recordkeeping activities of the Medical Unit
• Ensure all-time operational readiness of the medical clinic
• Assist with data collection and analysis; prepare data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning, and decision-making
