Assistant Curator II (History)

Position Overview

The Assistant Curator II (History) will support museum collection management, exhibitions, and related curatorial activities at the Tengeru Institute of Community Development (TICD) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This full-time position offers a great opportunity for career growth in museum curation and heritage preservation.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of museum collections
• Care for and manage special collections
• Assist in the preparation and execution of fieldwork trips
• Support curators in identifying and registering exhibition collections
• Inspect incoming and outgoing collections for condition and documentation
• Execute the installation and setup of exhibitions
• Prepare and distribute exhibition catalogues and displays
• Prepare exhibition plans and reports
• Design and create models for temporary exhibitions
• Maintain the workshop and its equipment
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications

• Diploma in History from a recognized institution, OR
• Diploma in Education majoring in History from a recognized institution

Compensation and Employment Details

Salary is determined according to the PGSS 4 salary scale. This is a full-time position based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
