Conservator II – Monuments and Sites

About the Role

The National Museum of Tanzania (NMT) is seeking a qualified Conservator II – Monuments and Sites to join our team in Dar es Salaam. This is a full-time position focused on supporting conservation research and technical work related to monuments and archaeological sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in field data collection, computer data entry, data analysis, and gathering relevant literature under the close supervision of Senior Researchers
• Prepare and submit technical reports to the respective supervisor
• Prepare and submit draft manuscripts to the respective supervisor for review
• Train and supervise other Technicians
• Assist in preparing research progress reports according to respective work plans
• Assist in the planning of specific research projects
• Assist in preparing fundable research proposals and consultancies
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized institution in one of the following fields:

• Chemistry
• Chemical Engineering
• Geology
• Architecture
• Heritage Management

Work Environment

This position involves collaboration with senior researchers and technical staff in a museum and field-based conservation setting.
