About the Organization

The Weights and Measures Agency (WMA) is an Executive Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade established to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of legal metrology services in Tanzania. Through the implementation of the Weights and Measures Act, Cap. 340, the Agency ensures fairness and accuracy in trade measurements while promoting consumer protection and supporting economic growth.

About This Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the collection of various economic and statistical data
• Collect information and statistics for planning and priority setting purposes
• Prepare and distribute statistical and economic information reports
• Participate in drafting project requirements in collaboration with various stakeholders
• Participate in resource mobilization activities and development initiatives
• Participate in research teams and assist in preparing research reports
• Collect inputs and data for the review of the Agency's strategic plan

Required Qualifications

The Economist II will support economic planning, research activities, statistical analysis, and resource mobilization functions within the Agency. Candidates should possess analytical capabilities, research competence, and the ability to support strategic planning and development initiatives.
