Project Background

The Strengthen the Egg Value Chain project in the Western Province of Rwanda is funded by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and is aligned with its seven-year flagship programme, Combating Malnutrition in Rwanda through Sustainable Food Systems (CMRFS) (2025–2031).

The project is implemented in partnership with DUHAMIC-ADRI in 13 sectors across three districts:

  • Karongi District: 3 sectors (Rugabano, Ruganda, Gashali)
  • Nyamasheke District: 5 sectors (Rangiro, Bushekeri, Karengera, Kirimbi, Karambi)
  • Rusizi District: 5 sectors (Muganza, Bugarama, Bweyeye, Rwimbogo, Giheke)

Purpose of the Tender

To procure and distribute 54,000 healthy, four weeks old dual-purpose chicks (meat and egg production) to accelerate household-level access to animal-source foods, enhance dietary diversity, and provide small income-generating opportunities while building local husbandry skills.
