• Job Title: Laboratory Analyst

• Reports To: Laboratory Senior Analyst

Job Purpose

The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for conducting and supervising laboratory analyses of geological samples to ensure accurate and timely results. The role oversees sample preparation, analytical processes, and quality control while guiding junior laboratory staff to support mining and exploration operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and supervise laboratory analysis of geological samples (rocks, soils, ores)
• Interpret and validate analytical results to ensure accuracy and reliability
• Oversee sample preparation processes including crushing, splitting, and pulverizing
• Ensure proper implementation of QAQC procedures and standards
• Supervise Laboratory Technicians, Graduate Technicians, and Laboratory Assistants in daily activities
• Ensure proper labeling, tracking, and storage of all laboratory samples
• Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and proper functioning
• Review and compile laboratory data and prepare reports for geologists and management
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and laboratory protocols
• Train and mentor junior laboratory staff to improve performance and skills
• Monitor laboratory consumables and coordinate replenishment
• Identify and implement improvements in laboratory processes and efficiency
• Perform additional tasks as required by supervisors and management

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Geology, Laboratory Sciences, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in laboratory analysis, preferably in mining or mineral processing
