Senior Risk Officer

Position Overview

COPEDU Plc, a Public Limited Company licensed by the National Bank of Rwanda to operate as a Financial Institution, is seeking a Senior Risk Officer to join the Risk and Compliance Department. The Senior Risk Officer will be responsible for managing and communicating risk management policies, assessing and mitigating organizational risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advising senior management on risk-related matters.

Reports to: Head of Risk and Compliance

Location: Kigali, Rwanda

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain comprehensive risk management policies, frameworks, and procedures aligned with regulatory and industry standards
• Define risk appetite, tolerance levels, and mitigation strategies across the organization
• Conduct regular and ad-hoc risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and evaluate potential impact
• Analyze internal data and external trends to anticipate emerging risks and support strategic planning
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and operational processes
• Support the development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans
• Design and implement risk mitigation strategies and action plans
• Advise management on risk exposure, compliance issues, and improvement opportunities
• Promote a strong risk-aware culture and corporate governance practices
• Communicate risk insights and compliance requirements across departments
• Review high-value contracts to ensure adequate risk controls
• Maintain records of insurance policies, claims, and renewals
• Ensure compliance with consumer protection regulations
