About the Organization
Kigali International Arbitration Centre (KIAC) is an independent body established by an Act of Parliament in 2010 under the auspices of the Rwanda Private Sector Federation in partnership with the Government of Rwanda. KIAC's principal mandate is to promote, facilitate, and encourage the use of domestic and international arbitration, commercial mediation, and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Rwanda.
Position Overview
The Case Management and Capacity Building Specialist assists in various case management matters by playing a supportive role in the work required to support day-to-day case management and administration. This position is responsible for performing routine tasks essential to case success and may also support the design and delivery of arbitration and ADR-related capacity building initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Register and manage all case files and organize arbitration hearings
- Assist with scheduling and planning pre-hearing conferences and hearings
- Liaise with internal and external contacts, maintaining communication with parties and arbitral tribunals to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of procedural progress
- Facilitate parties in finding arbitration venues
- Respond to user questions regarding KIAC rules, policies, and procedures
- Collect and review documents, create electronic and physical files, and draft legal pleadings
- Conduct case needs assessments based on case files to ensure cases meet all arbitrability requirements under KIAC
- Prepare for and attend hearings and case management meetings as needed
- Assess capacity needs and identify gaps in capacity building for KIAC partners
- Design content for training programs in collaboration with KIAC's training department and partners
