Engineering Draughtsman(Drafter)

Position Overview

Browns Plantations Rwanda Limited (BPRL) is developing a greenfield tea factory in Nyaruguru District in the Southern Province of Rwanda. The development is at Phase 2 stage. We are seeking a skilled and experienced draughtsman to join our engineering team for a 6-month renewable contract.

Role Definition

A draughtsman (or drafter) creates precise technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models for architecture, engineering, and manufacturing projects using CAD software. This role involves translating rough sketches and concepts from engineers and architects into accurate, compliant technical plans that incorporate material specifications and building codes.

Key Information

• Reports to: Engineering Service Manager
• Location: Nyaruguru, South Province, Rwanda
• Employment Type: Full Time
• Contract Period: 6 Months Renewable

Main Responsibilities

• Create various technical drawings following specifications and calculations, preparing both rough sketches and detailed work using CAD systems on time and in full
• Use software such as Bricks CAD, AutoCAD, or Revit to develop detailed 2D layouts and 3D models from rough sketches or specifications
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to understand design requirements and project goals
• Work with production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot design issues and verify that fabricated items are assembled according to specifications
• Update existing plans to incorporate changes based on feedback, site visits, or material constraints
• Review drawings to ensure they meet industry standards, safety regulations, and building codes
• Prepare technical reports, material lists, and structural dimensions to guide production
• Maintain "as-built" plant layouts and ensure proper filing and archiving of documentation
