About Drug Innovation Group (DIG)
The Drug Innovation Group (DIG) is a medicinal chemistry group at the University of Ghana, situated in the Frank Tortor Building at the Department of Chemistry. DIG is part of a fully integrated malaria drug discovery project under the Grand Challenges African Drug Discovery Accelerator (GC-ADDA) program, comprising eight African institutions with many international partners, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and LifeArc.
Position Overview
We are seeking to appoint a Project Manager on a 3-year fixed contract to support interdisciplinary translational research teams. The main purpose of this position is to help DIG/GC-ADDA teams develop project plans and support effective implementation of cross-functional discovery activities in alignment with DIG/GC-ADDA overall research priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support interdisciplinary translational research teams in developing comprehensive project plans
- Facilitate effective implementation of cross-functional discovery activities
- Manage internal and external communication of key research activities and programs
- Support teams in working effectively together across disciplines
- Plan and execute research-related activities including face-to-face meetings, funder/stakeholder engagements, and sample shipments across participating institutions
Required Qualifications
- Research-based Master's degree in a scientific discipline
- 3 years of project management experience in a translational research environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to liaise effectively between scientific and non-scientific staff
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong computer, organizational, and time management skills
- Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to work both as a team player and independently when required
Advantageous Qualifications
- Knowledge of scientific disciplines aligned to drug discovery (chemistry, pharmacology, biology, etc.)
- Advanced planning and tracking skills
