## Title: Project Manager – Drug Innovation Group

About the Organization

The Drug Innovation Group (DIG) is a medicinal chemistry group at the University of Ghana, located in the Frank Tortor Building at the Department of Chemistry. DIG is part of a fully integrated malaria drug discovery project under the Grand Challenges African Drug Discovery Accelerator (GC-ADDA) program, comprising eight African institutions with many international partners. The program is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and LifeArc.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Project Manager for a 3-year fixed contract position. The main purpose of this role is to support interdisciplinary translational research teams by helping DIG/GC-ADDA teams develop project plans and support effective implementation of cross-functional discovery activities in alignment with overall research priorities.

This position will also assist teams in working effectively together, managing internal and external communication of key research activities and programs, and supporting DIG/GC-ADDA in the planning and execution of research-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support interdisciplinary translational research teams in developing and implementing project plans
  • Facilitate effective cross-functional discovery activities aligned with DIG/GC-ADDA research priorities
  • Manage internal and external communication of key research activities and programs
  • Plan and execute research-related activities including face-to-face meetings, funder and stakeholder engagements, and sample shipping across participating institutions
  • Support teams in working effectively together across scientific and non-scientific functions

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Research-based Master's degree in a scientific discipline
  • 3 years of project management experience in a translational research environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to liaise effectively between scientific and non-scientific staff
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong computer, organizational, and time management skills
  • Highly motivated with proven ability to work as a team player and independently when required

Advantageous Qualifications

  • Knowledge of scientific disciplines aligned to drug discovery (chemistry, pharmacology, biology, etc.)
  • Advanced planning and tracking skills
