Position Overview

A reputable public sector institution is seeking a highly qualified, experienced, and results-oriented professional for the position of Director of Finance.

Job Purpose

To provide leadership, technical, and administrative direction for the efficient and effective management of the financial functions of the institution.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide input into the formulation of the institution's financial policies
• Lead the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of financial programmes and activities
• Ensure the efficient and effective management of financial, human, and material resources
• Mobilize financial resources to support the institution's operational and strategic objectives
• Oversee the preparation and timely submission of annual budgets and financial reports
• Ensure the accurate analysis, interpretation, and reporting of financial statements
• Ensure compliance with financial laws, regulations, fiscal policies, and international public sector accounting standards (IPSAS)
• Oversee the implementation of the performance management system within the directorate
• Maintain effective collaboration with Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and other stakeholders on financial matters

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
• Chartered member of a recognized professional accounting body such as ICAG, ACCA, or CPA
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant post-bachelor's work experience
• At least 5 years of experience in a senior management position
• Strong knowledge of public financial management systems and regulatory frameworks
