Job Overview

A reputable company invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Senior Civil Engineer in Accra, Ghana. This is a full-time role in the engineering sector.

Job Purpose

Implement approved civil engineering policies and standards on assigned construction sites and monitor to ensure that completed projects satisfy approved specifications, designs, cost, time, quality and local/international accepted building codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement approved strategies, plans, policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work plans, control systems and monitoring mechanisms to facilitate construction activities
• Implement approved health and safety policies, guidelines and practices on construction sites to ensure compliance
• Coordinate with surveyors and architects to confirm technical specifications and prepare engineering design and documents for construction projects for approval
• Work with surveyors to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades and elevations to guide construction works
• Study project concepts, architectural drawings and models and report on findings to facilitate the design of construction projects
• Undertake research to identify appropriate building and construction materials for proposed projects and report on findings
• Participate in the estimation of material quantities, equipment and labour requirements
• Vet construction design reports submitted by consultants and contractors to identify potential risks and challenges
• Participate in site investigations to verify feasibility, key variables and changes to be made on proposed sites prior to construction works
• Keep up-to-date knowledge of modern construction methods, techniques and tools to enhance construction activities
