Position Overview
The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Director, Internal Audit Directorate. This role reports to the Vice-Chancellor and is responsible for the internal audit of the University's accounts and financial transactions.
Reporting Structure
The Director of Internal Audit reports administratively to the Vice-Chancellor and functionally to the Audit Committee of the University.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and operate an efficient and effective financial control system
- Vet all proposed expenditures to ensure compliance with internal control systems and statutory requirements
- Conduct periodic examination of the University's accounts, including limited financial and operational audits
- Monitor and ensure that all expenditures are authorized and within budgetary provisions
- Conduct management audits and submit reports as required
- Liaise with External Auditors and ensure appropriate action is taken on reported audit findings
- Ensure the University's compliance with the Internal Audit Agency Act 2003 (Act 658) and relevant University policies and Acts
- Discharge other assignments as directed by the Vice-Chancellor
Required Qualifications
- A good first degree in a relevant discipline
- A master's degree in a relevant discipline
- Membership of a professional Accounting or Auditing body
- Experience in public accounting and/or auditing
