Position Overview

The Senior Security Officer (SSO) works under the direction of the IMC Tigray Program Coordinator and reports to the IMC Country Security Manager and IMC Country Director on technical security issues. The SSO provides comprehensive assistance on all matters of safety and security relating to IMC staff and programs in the Tigray refugee camps and host communities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Oversee daily security management for IMC programs in Tigray
• Provide support to the Tigray Program Coordinator on safety and security matters
• Train and mentor Security Focal Points
• Monitor and assess security conditions and make recommendations as appropriate
• Assist in developing and updating security guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and contingency plans for IMC programs in Tigray
• Train IMC staff in Tigray on all security procedures and policies with support from senior management

Reporting Structure

The IMC Tigray Program Coordinator serves as the direct supervisor, with additional oversight from the IMC Country Security Manager and Country Director.
