About the Role
TM Law firm is a growing and reputable law firm engaged in legal services. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Lawyer to join our team in Addis Ababa.
Job Summary
The Senior Lawyer will provide legal counsel, draft and review legal documents, and represent clients in negotiations and court proceedings. This role involves conducting legal research, analyzing precedents, managing legal risks, and preparing contracts and other formal agreements. The successful candidate will advocate for clients' interests while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, maintaining client confidentiality, and offering strategic, situation-specific legal advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the organization's litigation matters, including civil, criminal, and administrative cases
- Oversee the development of case strategies, legal arguments, and tactics for successful outcomes
- Conduct in-depth legal research to analyze and interpret laws, regulations, and precedents relevant to ongoing and potential litigation matters
- Stay updated on changes in relevant legal frameworks
- Prepare and review legal documents, briefs, motions, pleadings, and other necessary materials for court appearances and hearings
- Ensure all filings meet legal requirements and deadlines
- Represent clients and the organization in court proceedings, hearings, and negotiations with opposing counsel
- Engage in dispute settlement discussions
- Collaborate with internal departments and external law firms as required
- Select and manage outside counsel, ensuring cost-effective legal representation and adherence to organizational legal standards
- Assess potential legal risks and liabilities associated with litigation matters
- Advise management on the best course of action to mitigate risks
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to litigation processes
