Main Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Transit Supervisor, the Transit and Clearance Officer I is responsible for presenting customs declarations and other documents to customs officials for registration and processing. This role involves performing assessments for inland office activities, preparing estimates of charges for advance payment, checking invoices for import and export operations, and handling all transit and clearance activities related to goods at port customs.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive initial documents and/or information from supervisor, assess and prepare advance payment estimates for import and export operations
• Assess the applicability of advance payments and calculate amounts based on basic information and applicable rates
• Assess and check transit invoices and work sheets for import and export operations
• Submit advance payment estimates and transit invoice sheets to accounting personnel; file copies for cross-reference purposes and coordinate with accounting to determine payment or refund status
• Perform assessments for inland office activities in preparing estimates of charges for advance payment and checking invoices
• Prepare payment requests and attach declarations with transit files; notify supervisor of actions taken
• Inform importers of estimated amounts upon request
• Fulfill and arrange all formalities for clearing goods at port customs
• Handle all transit and clearance activities as required
