Gayo Pastoral Development Initiative (GPDI) is a non-government organization (NGO), non-political, non-for-profit and secular organization established to promote sustainable livelihoods and self-reliance in the pastoral communities of Oromia Regional State. It was legally registered with the Ministry of Justice on November 21, 2003, and re-registered under new legislation of “Charities and Societies Proclamation No. 1113/2019” on July 24, 2019, with a registration number 0156 as “Ethiopian Resident Charity”. The overall goal of GPDI is to improve the livelihood of targeted pastoral communities whereby livelihood vulnerability to disasters is reduced, livelihood options are diversified, access to quality social services is enhanced, and food/social security has been ensured.GPDI in partnership with SOS CVE is planning to implement NC-HDP nexus project entitled “from Crisis to resilience: Nutrition centric HDP nexus Programming in Moyale (CORE) district of Borana Zone. The CORE Project is dedicated to strengthening community resilience, promoting peace, and fostering social cohesion in conflict-prone areas. In Moyale district, the project works closely with local communities, government institutions, and civil society to build inclusive dialogue platforms, enhance conflict resolution mechanisms, and support equitable development.GPDI is currently seeking a qualified and competent expert fill the position of peace and social cohesion officer based in Moyale town to facilitate peace and conflict transformation activities of CORE project in collaboration with project staff and government project stakeholders. KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the design and implementation of peacebuilding and social cohesion activities in Moyale district.Facilitate community dialogues, mediation sessions, and inclusive forums to address local conflicts.Strengthen collaboration between traditional institutions, local government, and civil society actors.Conduct conflict analysis, mapping, and monitoring to inform project strategies.Support women, youth, and marginalized groups to actively participate in peace and governance processes.Prepare timely reports, success stories, and recommendations for stakeholders and donors.Ensure alignment of project activities with organizational safeguarding and accountability standards JOB DESCRIPTION Title Peace and Social Cohesion Officer No. of vacant post: One (1) Job career level Mid-Level (2-5 years' experience) Department/Project Peace building and social cohesion Reporting to NC-HDP project Coordinator Salary As per the organization's scale Duration of the Contract One year with high possibility of extension Duty station Borena Zone, Moyale Town.
