To provide Psycho-social support and trauma Healing training for the IDP camps in Amhara and Benishangul Gumuz regions.Empowering Justice: “ Enhancing Access to Legal Aid for Vulnerable Women in Ethiopia’s Criminal Justice System.”IntroductionThe association is headquartered in Addis Ababa and has opened its regional city offices in eight locations, namely Adama, Hawassa, BahirDar, Gambella, Assosa, Jigjiga, Semera, and Dire Dawa. In order to make the service accessible to all, the association is working to continue its service in the zones and woredas under its regional and city administration branches and has so far established 57 volunteer committee centers across the country. Besides, it has established a hotline service (7711) which operates in 3 local languages: Amharic, Afan Oromo, and Tigrigna. EWLA, with financial support from UNODC, has been implementing a project titled “Enhanced Awareness of Targeted Vulnerable Women Regarding Their Rights and the Legal Process and Increased Access to Proper Legal Assistance and Representation for Targeted Groups.” From February 2025 to May 2026. The project aims to enhance equitable access to justice and raise awareness within the criminal justice systems of the two federal administrations (Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa City administrations) and the two regional states (Benshangul and Amahar regional states) by the end of May/2026. It particularly focuses on empowering of marginalized groups, including the poor, women, and other vulnerable populations, through improved access to legal aid support services. By implementing this comprehensive psychosocial support and trauma healing training in IDP camps, it is expected to create a network of informed community members who can effectively support one another in overcoming trauma. This initiative will not only enhance individual resilience but also foster community solidarity, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of displaced populations.This activity will deliver comprehensive psychosocial support and trauma healing training in selected IDP camps located in the Amhara and Benishangul Gumuz Regional States. A five-day training will be conducted at three IDP camps in the Amhara Region—specifically in Debre Birhan, Wolidya and Gonder, and Bambasi IDP camp in Benishangul Gumuz region.
