Driver Mechanic

Job Purpose

Perform safe operation of motor vehicles and provide reliable transportation services. Execute minor skilled mechanical maintenance and repair work on automobiles, buses, trucks, and related equipment. Work is performed under general supervision with performance based on completion of assignments and results obtained.

Project operation Woredas based in Amhara, Somali, and Gambella Regions, Ethiopia

Major Responsibilities

• Manage and drive World Vision Ethiopia vehicles assigned to you in accordance with local laws and FM policy regarding vehicle use as specified by your supervisor
• Properly handle vehicles for day-to-day assignments
• Inspect vehicles before and after each journey to ensure good condition and minimize wear and tear
• Perform appropriate vehicle technical inspections and prepare vehicles for scheduled service
• Timely prepare and submit vehicle performance reports after each journey
• Ensure all vehicle movements are recorded in the vehicle log-book and fuel consumption records on a regular basis
• Take precautionary measures for keeping original keys, tools, and reserve tires
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance of assigned vehicles, including spring-cleaning
• Perform Level-A maintenance tasks
• Maintain drivability of vehicles and supplies of all essential equipment
• Identify vehicle faults and promptly report to supervisor with advice on appropriate repairs and services
• Submit vehicle maintenance requests for required maintenance services
• Consistently monitor vehicle performance and timely follow-up on maintenance accomplishments
