Job DescriptionJob Title: Researcher I – Data ManagerThe Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was established in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute formally joined the Ethiopian Ministry of Health in 2004 and, in 2016, was designated as a government health agency under the Council of Ministers Regulation No. 376/2016. AHRI maintains strong national and international partnerships and actively participates in peer-reviewed grant-funded projects, clinical trials, capacity-building initiatives, and the training of MSc and PhD students.AHRI, in collaboration with local and international partners, is currently implementing a multi-country research project entitled: “Optimizing Severe Pneumonia Management in Children through Scale-up of Bubble Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (bCPAP) Technology in Low-Income Settings (OPT-bCPAP).”This project is funded by the Global Health European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP3) and is being conducted in partnership with institutions in Ethiopia, Nigeria, Malawi, South Africa, and Sweden.AHRI is seeking a highly qualified Researcher I- Data Manager to lead and coordinate all data management activities for the OPT-bCPAP project. The successful candidate will work closely with Principal Investigators across participating countries, Work Package Leads, AHRI project staff, partner institutions in Nigeria and Malawi, and field teams to ensure high-quality, timely, secure, and compliant data management across all study sites.Description of Roles and ResponsibilitiesData Management Leadership and CoordinationEstablish and maintain a secure, centralized project database.Lead and coordinate all data management activities, including data receipt, batching, cleaning, validation, merging, and archiving.Coordinate data management activities across international partner institutions.Liaise closely with the data collection coordinator, site supervisors, and field teams.Prepare and submit regular data management and data quality reports to the Principal Investigator and project leadership.Identify, document, and promptly report data-related issues, risks, and protocol deviations to the Principal Investigator.Electronic Data Capture and Quality AssuranceDesign, adapt, maintain, and optimize electronic data collection tools, with a strong focus on REDCap-based systems.Provide technical oversight and hands-on support to field teams using the REDCap Mobile Application, including offline data collection.Conduct routine data quality checks (daily and bi-weekly) to identify inconsistencies, missing values, and systematic errors.Validate double-entered datasets and ensure compliance with predefined data quality standards.Ensure secure data storage, appropriate user access controls, and routine data backup procedures in accordance with project and institutional policies.Data Processin...
