About the Organization

Nascent Solutions, Inc. (Nascent) is implementing the McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Project to improve literacy and nutrition outcomes for school-age children across 260 schools in the Adamawa, East, North, and Northwest regions of Cameroon.

Project Overview

The program will provide school meals to students using both US-donated and locally procured commodities. US-donated commodities include rice, beans, vegetable oil, and Corn Soy Blend Plus. Locally procured commodities will include biofortified maize and beans, palm oil, and chicken eggs.

Position Summary

Nascent Solutions seeks a consultant or consulting agency to conduct a comprehensive market analysis to understand local supply and demand dynamics for the food commodities needed and assess the potential impact of procurement on market prices for local communities. The analysis results will inform Nascent Solutions' operational plan.

Key Objectives

• Analyze local market supply and demand for biofortified maize, beans, palm oil, and chicken eggs
• Understand how these commodities can be reliably supplied to support the school feeding program
• Assess the potential impact of large-scale commodity procurement on local market prices and community access
• Evaluate the effect of US-donated commodities distributed as school meals and take-home rations on local commodity prices
