Overview
Escom Logistics, a member of the Group Portfolio, is seeking a qualified and experienced Workshop & Fleet Manager to oversee the maintenance and operations of our growing commercial haulage fleet. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting directly to the General Manager.
Work Location
The role is based in Zimbabwe, with office duties at our Milton Park location and warehouse operations in Marondera.
Fleet Scope
You will be responsible for managing a fleet of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and commercial haulage trucks, currently comprising 12 vehicles with plans for continued expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day workshop operations, including scheduling and quality control of all maintenance and repair work
- Manage the maintenance schedules for all HGVs to ensure optimal vehicle availability and compliance with safety standards
- Coordinate with drivers and operational staff to minimize downtime and ensure efficient fleet deployment
- Monitor and control parts inventory, supplier relationships, and repair costs to stay within budget
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle service histories, inspections, and regulatory compliance documentation
- Lead, supervise, and develop workshop staff to maintain high productivity and workmanship standards
- Implement and enforce health and safety protocols within the workshop environment
- Report regularly to the General Manager on fleet performance, maintenance expenses, and any operational issues
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience managing a commercial vehicle fleet, preferably with HGVs or heavy haulage equipment
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, vehicle electrical systems, and hydraulic equipment
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fleet Management, or a related field is preferred
- Experience in workshop supervision and team leadership
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Good computer literacy for record-keeping and reporting purposes
- Valid driver's license; a clean police record is essential
Remuneration & Conditions
This position offers a monthly salary of $500. The role requires physical presence at both the Milton Park office and Marondera warehouse as needed, with flexibility to respond to fleet emergencies outside standard working hours.
