The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week).
DUTIES: The American Center Director/English Language Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Public Engagement
Specialist and supervises no staff. Develops and maintains ties with the Emerging Voices (EV) sector in Niger to support foreign policy goals. Is responsible for the day-to-day oversight, management, and operations of the Mission’s USG operated American Center.
Develops Center-specific activities and programs, to attract EV audiences at the Center and for Partner American Space audiences
throughout the country; collaborates with non-Center Public Diplomacy (PD) staff on a range of other PD activities and projects to broaden the Center’s EV activities and programs. Provides program support for all American Spaces country-wide, by liaising with American Space directors to provide grants and programming oversight, and coordinate Embassy programming at the Spaces. This position has a large degree of autonomy as Director of a public access facility that must maintain a dynamic schedule of simultaneous activities and projects, live and virtual, that support Post’s Integrated Country Strategy and Public Diplomacy Implementation Plan goals. Provides program support for activities of all of Niger’s American Spaces. Coordinates Mission PD English language outreach to EV audiences. Conceives, develops, and implements both in-person and virtual English language learning projects and activities, and organizes teacher training and professional development opportunities for English teachers. Supports the Post’s EnglishLanguage
Fellow and is the primary point of contact for the Embassy’s American English Language Program.
EDUCATION: University degree in communications, business administration, international affairs, American Studies, English,
Education, or local equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE: This position requires a total of at least four years of experience. Specifically: a) Minimum of three years of
