Location: ACME, UM6P campus, NouaceurReport to: Technical Manager / General ManagerEntity: Africa Center of Manufacturing Excellence (ACME) is a Technology development platform focused on Advanced Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, automation and tooling.Mission: The Research Engineer will be responsible for materials & processes tasks related to metallic Additive Manufacturing for high-performance components.The candidate is expected to collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering challenges, analyze data, design prototypes, and contribute to the advancement of ACMEs core technology platforms.Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to have a strong understanding of major metallic AM approaches, as well as a solid foundation of materials/metallurgical engineering. As an Additive Manufacturing Engineer, your performance will be assessed through key KPIs that reflect your impact on process capability, production efficiency, industrialization of AM technologies, and cross-functional execution.The Manufacturing Engineers specific duties include, but are not limited to: Applying AM expertise to continually grow and improve ACMEs technical capabilities in support of research, development, and production tasks. Evaluate new metal AM machines and provide input on new machine selection for purchase. Conducting 3D scanning of complex mechanical parts using laser, optical, or structured-light technologies. Responsible for the design and implementation of machine improvements and capital equipment project management activities. Troubleshooting and maintenance of cam driven mechanisms and pneumatic and hydraulic equipment used in the production process. Working with CNC machining team to develop estimates for both full CNC and AM/CNC hybrid projects. Creating 3D models and CAD drawings of engineered products/process equipment, including the creation of general arrangement, assembly, and fabrication drawings. Leading Process Development related projects from lab optimization through pilot scale-up to commercial production. Assisting in scaling-up new products and overseeing initial production launches across multiple co-manufacturing facilities and diverse product categories. Integrating manufacturing and processing considerations into product development efforts, ensuring efficiency and feasibility throughout the project lifecycle. Assisting in evaluating new equipment and technologies for potential implementation in production processes. Qualifications and Experience: Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, or related field. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in development and optimization of Additive Manufacturing processes, or material development role supporting emerging materials and technologies.
