Job Purpose

The Driver is responsible for safely and effectively driving and maintaining company vehicles to a high-quality standard. You may also be requested to support operational activities as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the vehicle is properly loaded and prepared, ready to depart according to the agreed schedule
• Conduct daily, pre-trip, post-trip, and other periodical vehicle inspections in accordance with fleet inspection procedures
• Maintain all logbooks up-to-date and submit copies monthly to the Transport Manager
• Ensure third-party insurance and registration stickers remain valid at all times
• Alert the Transport Manager in writing at least 4 weeks before the expiry of insurance or registration
• Keep the vehicle interior and exterior clean
• Ensure the vehicle receives timely maintenance to prevent avoidable breakdowns and maximize vehicle performance
• Monitor fuel and oil consumption carefully, ensuring accurate records and preventing supply diversion
• Drive responsibly, showing care and consideration for other road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, while minimizing risks
• Ensure company vehicles are used only for official business in accordance with vehicle use procedures
• Adhere to scheduled routes and destinations
• Perform any other duties as requested by the Transport Manager

Minimum Education Requirements

• O-level certificate or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE)
• Valid Uganda driving license
