Graduate Trainee-Hsse

Position Overview

TotalEnergies is seeking a Graduate Trainee for the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) department. In this role, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining a strong safety culture across all employees and contractors at our Dar es Salaam operations.

Context & Environment

HSE is the responsibility of everyone. Your main objective will be to develop and reinforce a strong safety culture among all employees and contractors working at the site. This role requires flexibility, including long working hours and occasional work during weekends and public holidays.

Internal Coordination: Operations Manager, Internal Auditor, Commercial Department, Network Manager, HR Manager, Depot Managers, and Transport Manager

External Coordination: Contractors, Government institutions (OSHA, NEMC)

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and follow up on training programs (local and regulatory trainings)
• Conduct HSE inspections at the Head Office and worksites
• Coordinate and conduct monthly HSE & REX committee meetings and follow up on action items
• Organize and execute quarterly emergency response drills at headquarters
• Maintain and update incident cases in the management system
• Deliver internal training sessions, toolbox talks, and lead HSE awareness campaigns
• Visit worksites and service stations to conduct HSE inspections
• Maintain and monitor firefighting equipment at headquarters
• Promote near-miss reporting, adherence to golden rules, and use of stop cards
• Participate in accident investigations and reporting
• Support implementation of affiliate HSE objectives
• Conduct HSE evaluations for tender bidders on high-risk projects
• Ensure availability and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), managing inventory
• Create, review, and update HSE programs, policies, plans, and procedures
• Monitor employee health and wellness, including food quality, drinking water standards, and sanitation facility cleanliness
