General Worker

Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified General Worker to join our production team at our Brackenfell facility. You will assist in the manufacturing, handling, and finishing of PVC pipes by performing general duties on the factory floor, ensuring smooth production operations while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Position Details

• Department: Production / Manufacturing
• Reports To: Supervisor / Production Manager
• Location: Brackenfell, Cape Town
• Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

Production Support

• Assist machine operators during the PVC pipe extrusion process
• Load raw materials (PVC resin, additives) into machines
• Assist with pipe cutting, sizing, and stacking
• Remove finished products from production lines

Material Handling

• Move raw materials and finished goods within the factory
• Pack and label finished PVC pipes according to specifications
• Prepare products for storage or dispatch

Quality Control

• Conduct visual inspections of pipes for defects (cracks, deformities, discoloration)
• Report faulty products or machine issues to the supervisor
• Ensure products meet required quality standards

Housekeeping

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Dispose of waste materials correctly
• Assist with cleaning machines and equipment when required

Health & Safety

• Follow all factory safety rules, procedures, and regulations
• Wear required PPE (safety boots, gloves, goggles, etc.) at all times
• Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents immediately

General Duties

• Assist maintenance team when required
• Follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders
• Perform any other duties assigned by management

Requirements

• Grade 10 / Matric (preferred)
• Previous factory or manufacturing experience (advantageous)
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour and lift heavy materials
• Willingness to work shifts (day/night) and overtime
