Position Overview

Department: Quality Assurance & Quality Control

Reports to: Quality Control Specialist

Location: Kigali, Rwanda

Contract Type: Open-ended Contract

Purpose of the Role

The Microbiology Lab Analyst is responsible for performing day-to-day quality control of incoming raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products. The successful candidate will advise the company on microbiological air and water quality, and on good hygiene practices to be implemented across AIF sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of incoming raw materials, in-process, and finished products, reporting conformity and non-conformity parameters to the immediate supervisor or mandated authorities
• Assess hygiene status of testing equipment and factory environment to ensure product quality and safety
• Participate in problem-solving activities and provide technical expertise and laboratory skills
• Identify microbial flora on processing factors (Man, Machine, Materials) and in the processing environment
• Apply good laboratory practices (GLP) as per quality and safety guidelines
• Prepare and handle media, reference standards, reagents, and working reagents as necessary before use and during testing
• Safely handle and store equipment, standards, chemicals, and glassware used for testing and analytical procedures
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on sample collection, sample preparation, inoculation, culture media preparation, and incubation
• Assist in solving analytical-related problems and implementing precautions and preventive measures
