About the Organization

Sustainable Growers is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that specializes in innovative coffee cultivation training techniques for smallholder women coffee farmers. The organization aims to increase farmer visibility in the coffee supply chain and strengthen financial literacy and economic resilience.

Through strategic partnerships with Bloomberg Philanthropies and the governments of Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Tanzania, Sustainable Growers has transformed the lives of 77,232 women farmers, creating a secondary positive impact on 341,818 family members.

Background and Rationale

Team Savings and Lending (TSL) initiatives, commonly referred to as Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) systems, have proven to be an effective mechanism for improving women's access to financial resources. These mechanisms enable farmers to invest in household needs, agricultural inputs, and other income-generating activities.

Sustainable Growers Rwanda is currently supporting the formation of 830 new TSLs across three countries:

• 553 teams in Rwanda
• 168 teams in the Democratic Republic of Congo
• 109 teams in Tanzania

Scope of Work

Sustainable Growers Rwanda is seeking a qualified fintech company to provide and operationalize a contextually relevant digital TSL Management System that enhances the management of savings and lending activities among teams and members.
