Principal Engineer (Water for Production)

About the Role

The Principal Engineer (Water for Production) will report to the Assistant Commissioner – Water for Production and be responsible for overseeing the development and management of water infrastructure projects for production purposes.

Key Responsibilities

• Improve functionality of Water for Production facilities through establishment of sustainable operation and maintenance frameworks
• Facilitate effective planning, design, construction, and operation and maintenance of water infrastructures and systems for production use in agriculture, industries, energy, and other sectors
• Support the construction of dams and valley tanks to increase livestock production and productivity
• Support construction of irrigation schemes to increase production and productivity
• Support construction of bulk water systems for multipurpose use
• Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time

Required Qualifications

• Ugandan citizen
• Honours Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Water Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering from a recognized university or institution
• Master's Degree in any of the above fields
• Registration with the Uganda Engineers' Registration Board (for engineers)

Preferred Qualifications

• Post Graduate Diploma in Management

Required Experience

• Minimum of 6 years of relevant working experience
• At least 3 years of experience as a senior Engineer in Government
