About the Role

The Public Service Commission seeks a dedicated Senior Wetlands Officer to support wetlands management and environmental protection initiatives. The incumbent will report to the Principal Wetlands Officer – Environment Support Services and play a crucial role in implementing national wetlands policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the formulation and review of national policies, legislations, and strategies on wetlands management
• Establish and maintain standards for wetlands management
• Coordinate and supervise national projects on wetlands management
• Coordinate and harmonize wetland management activities carried out by various Local Governments and other actors in the sub-sector
• Inspect, monitor, and evaluate activities of Local Governments and other actors to ensure compliance with national standards, policies, and plans
• Design, develop, and maintain a national wetlands master plan and national wetlands information system
• Develop, test, and promote scientific knowledge base for optimal wetlands management
• Provide technical advice, support supervision, and training within the wetlands management sub-sector
• Serve as an administrative authority and national focal point for wetlands management

Eligibility Requirements

Age: Minimum 24 years old

Nationality: Ugandan citizen

Education: Honours Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or any other Water Sciences from a recognized University or Institution

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience as a Wetlands Officer in Government
