Senior Water Officer (Water Resources Planning And Management)

Position Overview

The Public Service Commission is recruiting a Senior Water Officer to support water resources planning and management initiatives. The successful candidate will work under the Principal Water Officer and contribute to the development and implementation of Uganda's water resources policies and strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the formulation and review of water resources policies, laws, regulations, and standards related to national and transboundary water resources use and protection
• Coordinate and plan for water use, including development of scenarios for various water resources developments at national and basin/zonal levels
• Participate in development, review, and implementation of national water resources use and allocation plans
• Participate in the development, review, and implementation of strategies and plans for regulation of dams and reservoirs for optimum water resources use
• Assist in the development and implementation of dam safety and management strategies in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
• Participate in administration and issuance of national water use and services permits
• Maintain hard copy and electronic filing systems for water permits
• Maintain and operate databases for water permits, including information on permit applicants, permit issuance, and payment of application fees
• Provide technical advice, support, supervision, and training to stakeholders engaged in use and management of water resources
• Develop and implement strategies for maintenance of water reservoirs and lakes
• Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time
